Oregon Mountains at the height of Winter! Learn to navigate and thrive in the deep snow of the Cascades. This trip is for families (parent/child combos for youth 7-12) and teenagers (can come without parents). Destination TBD and weather dependent, most likely Benson Sno Park near HooDoo Ski Area.

We will learn to use winter gear, learn how to travel through deep snow, set up camp and tent sites and keep warm and dry including harvesting wood fuel and keeping a fire going. We will also take time for sledding runs, hot chocolate and stories around the fire. Trip logistics pivot around road and weather conditions the week of the trip and we will learn best practices for safely getting to and from our destination. Various skills taught and practiced (lots of practice) include navigation, digging snow pit, setting up fire, wood processing, camp site selection, snow shoe travel, camp cooking.

Group Dinner is provided. Breakfast and Lunch suggestion list provided. Gear is not provided but Coyle Outside will provide a gear list and has some loaner gear (backpacks). We can also help you locate the gear to rent or help you track down loaner gear such as snowshoes. We will hold an informational meeting for attendees two weeks prior to trip start.
